Treating your hair

Here is our advice on how to treat damaged hair.
Caring for your hair

Do not brush your hair while it is wet, especially if it is knotted, as this will cause extra damage. If you have curly hair and do brush it while it is wet, it is best to use a wide-toothed comb to avoid pulling at the hair. When you do brush your hair once it is dry, consider using hair detangling spray to make it easier.

Protect your hair from harsh weather by covering it up, you can use a hat, hood, or scarf. The hot  sun can be very damaging to your hair, but so can the extreme cold. Both extreme heat and extreme cold can sap your hair of moisture, leaving it brittle and dry.

Conditioning

When washing your hair use conditioner on the ends, this is the driest part of your hair and needs the most moisture. Apply the conditioner to the ends of your hair first and gently work your way up towards your head. You should use little to no conditioner on your scalp and roots as this can make your hair greasy quicker.

Use a deep conditioning hair mask, they are similar to conditioner except they have more moisture and nutrients in them. You do not need to use them every time you wash your hair, twice a month is enough or if you have particularly damaged hair, once a week. Look for masks that contain argan oil, coconut oil or shea butter as these ingredients contain the most nutrients to repair.
